Book Cover Design
Because we can't help but judge a book by its cover it's really important to make sure the cover is attractive and quickly conveys the sense of the book. When you have to get your message across in just a few seconds you need to boil everything down into a pleasing visual that speaks volumes and makes the reader want to learn more. Choice of typeface, color, image, pattern and texture all go a long way to make the image pleasing. Whether I am designing a book cover like these or something as simple as a logo, I work hard to capture the soul of the project and make it shine. Do you have a message you need to get across quickly? Let me help.

Logo Design in Louisville KY
I recently designed a logo for Susan Swope who wanted something to distinguish and identify her ownership of saddlebred horses. It needed to be something simple enough to work into brass to apply to her horse's harness and saddlery. When I was working out some ideas I couldn't help but notice that the double "S" looked a lot like the majestic pose of the saddlebred. I flipped the letters over to accentuate the proper angles then added the head. It all flowed together perfectly. To top it off I added a couple strokes to represent a mane and balance out the whole thing. I was very happy with the results and was even more excited when Susan sent me pictures of the tackle with the logo elegantly applied. Beautiful!! Do you have a need for a logo to apply to an unusual application? Let me help!

Home Cuisine
We're all looking for ways to make our lives easier and there's not too much wrong with taking the easy way out of responsibilities that have become tedious or overwhelming. Sometimes the easiest way to get something done is to have someone else do it for you. There are lots of people out there that have created businesses designed to make your life easier. Sandy Pike is one of those people and her business is cooking delicious meals and delivering them right to your door. She is a master chef and knows everything there is about managing a food service business but she needed someone to make things easier when it came to finding new customers. That's why she asked me to create a brochure to highlight the service she offers. When I took on that project, I looked to her logo to make the design of the brochure easier for me. The Home Cuisine logo design featured a prominent circle and the colors green and purple. The circle is a most wonderful symbol with extensive meaning. Maybe it just represents a plate here, but it has come to represent wholeness, perfection, eternity and even God. For the brochure, I used the circle, even keeping the proportion of line from the logo, to frame the photos, callouts, and icons. I used the shape of the circle on the inside as a guide to position the three photos. Finally, the Home Cuisine logo made my color choice for the brochure easier too. Wouldn't be great to make your life a little easier? Let Sandy Pike's Home Cuisine deliver your meals (http://www.homecuisineonline.com (http://www.homecuisineonline.com)) and me design your next brochure (http://www.moreschi.com (http://www.moreschi.com)).

Magnets Attract Sales

Magnet Design
A client recently asked me to create a business card to promote his beef sales. He had a large herd of Angus and the regular market channels weren't satisfying so he decided he'd try to sell directly to the consumer. I thought a design reminiscent of the old fruit crate labels would work best, but we both agreed printing the card on a magnet would make it a powerful sales tool. He handed out the magnets and they found their way to the freezers of customers who were reminded daily where to get the best ANGUS FREEZER BEEF. His direct sales to the consumer increased and he came back a few months later to order another 1000 magnet business cards. Maybe this is something you should try if you need to attract new customers.

Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter asked if I could make Uncle Sam give a salute for a campaign to promote an upcoming Honor Flight for World War II and Korean veterans. It was a little difficult to get it to look right, but in the end it was an effective way to grab the attention of the older veterans. Uncle Sam became an icon 100 years ago when James Montgomery Flagg painted it for a cover of Leslie's Weekly to promote preparedness. The image became so popular it was used later to recruit soldiers for World War II. Honor Flight is dedicated to celebrating these heroes with their program. If you know any WWII or Korean War Veterans interested in taking part in an Honor Flight Mission to Washington DC on May 10th please have them call (888) 989-1941 or visit www.honorflightbluegrass.org for more information.

Car Wrap Design
If you're like most people in business, doing the actual work is the easy part of the job. The toughest part is making your clients remember your name when they actually need the kind of service you are selling. Businesses use many ways to keep their name out there but here's a unique way that I recently designed for a client. It's a mobile billboard that attracts attention and keeps his name well recognized in the community. You can always "Count on the Colonel" to keep a patriotic theme and promote his service and love for the military. This car wrap features the US Flag and a flag transformed into an eagle holding the military seals. That eagle took me about 8 hours to draw but the results were worth it! Let me know if you need help creating new ways to keep your name in front of clients on the go and needing your work.
